How to Place Pictures of Our Gods at Home?

Every room in our home has some purpose. The living room to socialise and for family time, the bedroom to
rest, the garden to be close to nature, the office to get our work done in peace and meditation or puja room
to connect with ourselves and the divine power.
But purpose goes even deeper than this. The reasons why things are the way they are that is the reason for
the presence of harmony and tranquillity at home. Or even a lack of it.
So, it’s important to understand that even though we may have a prayer room that is well-maintained, clean
and houses all our most powerful deities, it still needs to be in the right place and face the right direction.
This might not seem like the most important thing, but because of Vastu, you can rest assured that it will make
a big difference to your living space.
So, how should you place the temple in your house and where and in which way should you put the pictures of
the gods? Read on and find out!
So, first things first, where do you place the temple room at your home? The best place would be somewhere
in the North-East, East or North part of the house. This is because the sun’s rays in the morning come in from
the North-East. These are the purest in the morning and have many beneficial effects on the body. Also, they
help in finding one’s centre early in the morning, which ensures that your day starts correctly.
Now, if you don’t have enough space for a puja room inside your home, then you can place a mandir in the
North-East corner of the kitchen. This is because once you are fresh in the morning, you tend to go into the
kitchen. There, with the mandir present, you can spend a few moments in silence and collect your thoughts
peacefully.
Ok, so your puja room or mandir have been placed, now where and how to keep the idols and pictures of the
gods?
You should keep your idols and pictures in the North-East, East or West part of the mandir or puja room. Again,
this is because this is the direction which gets hit by the purest rays of the sun in the morning. This fills the
atmosphere with the right kind of energy for puja.
Remember to ensure that none of the idols or images are facing North. This would mean that we would also
end up facing North while doing puja and our body’s energy will be repelled by that of the North Pole’s.
Finally, keep images of Lord Krishna, either with or without Radha in your sleeping quarters. Ensure that in all
images of Goddess Laxmi, that she is sitting down and that the mouth of the lion isn’t open. When placing a
Ganesha idol or image, keep all the male deities to his right and all the female deities to his left.
Once you follow all these rules of Vastu, the energy in your home and office will become positive, and you
will soon feel the effects!
